Character models are unfortunately repeated quite often throughout the game, but there is still a lot of personality in both the friendly NPCs you encounter and the myriad of enemies. The experience would greatly benefit from doing a little trim here and there to improve the overall pace.Īesthetically, The Legend of Tianding is a delightfully colorful affair, with the anime-style visuals adding a lovely style to the overall presentation. That’s fine in and of itself, but the game spends way too much time on this aspect and often prompts you to go from one end of the map to the other just to pick up a key item and bring it back, with multiple interruptions from NPCs along the way.Īdmittedly, it’s a great way to add to the already impressive sense of place in Taipei City, but if you just want to get on with the great fights, handing money over to beggars or buying meat at a market like that is very comfortable Wasted time. As each chapter begins, you will be introduced to new characters and given context on what to do (and who to beat up in the process).
